An Elegant, Garden-Inspired Wedding at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, Ohio
Alexis Hutta (29 and an attorney) and Matthew Kucek (30 and a sales executive) borrowed inspiration from Alexis’s ball gown for their opulent affair. “I wanted our wedding to look like a garden party, but with crystals, glass and candles throughout,” Alexis says. Luxe, garden-inspired details were abundant, from chic, laser-cut invitations to loose, asymmetrical arrangements of blush peonies, peach garden roses and white ranunculus. “The church didn’t allow much décor, but since we got married right after Easter, there were flowers everywhere,” Alexis says. After the ceremony, guests gathered in Ohio Statehouse’s rotunda for cocktail hour, then sat down to a lavish dinner in the on-site atrium, where gold chiavari chairs and blush table linens dressed up dining tables, and towering clusters of greenery popped against the stately white interior. “I loved the venue’s vibe, and Matt is a huge history buff, so the Statehouse suited us perfectly,” Alexis says. Before indulging in filet mignon, miniature grilled cheese sandwiches and a four-tier fondant confection made of flavors like lime-margarita cake with piña colada buttercream, friends and family looked on as the new Mr. and Mrs. swayed to Chantal Kreviazuk’s “Feels Like Home.”
