An Elegant, Formal Wedding at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, California
To honor their respective family traditions, Sirisha (30 and an investment analyst) and Justin (31 and a consultant) held two ceremonies followed by two receptions on two consecutive days: a Hindu wedding in a hotel ballroom and a Catholic ceremony at a historic art museum.
“For both days, we wanted the style to be classic and elegant,” Sirisha says. “We also wanted it to feel warm and intimate for guests.” For attire, the couple wore traditional Indian outfits for the ceremony under a white draped mandap, then donned western formalwear for the Catholic nuptials.
Sirisha’s hand-spun gold and silver silk sari came from India’s historic city of Kanchipuram.
At the Catholic wedding, the couple paired ivory, green and gold hues—including in Sirisha’s cascading bouquet of orchids and roses—with the European architecture. “The architecture fit well with Justin’s Italian and French background and the artwork, particularly the Hindu art, fit with my background,” Sirisha says.
Tall white arrangements and lace linens decorated the reception tables, while similar classic blooms adorned the tiered cake and pedestals flanking the ceremony aisle. To keep the formal, black-tie vibe, the bridesmaids wore long dresses to complement Sirisha’s timeless strapless lace gown.
