An Elegant Fall Wedding at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Suffern, New York
A serene lake in New York’s Ramapo Mountains set the scene for Megan Knapp (27 and a social media and content manager) and Eric DeFeo’s (28 and a business manager) rustic autumn ceremony in Tuxedo Park. “When Eric and I first drove up to our venue, we felt like we had entered another world,” Megan says. Shades of burgundy, blush and gold complemented the waterfront locale, where the couple wed under a birch wood arbor beneath the oak trees. “Our guests tossed leaves at us as we recessed back up the aisle,” Megan says. “It was such a fun moment.” Megan worked with a designer to create her custom silk satin gown. “It was such a special experience to watch my dress come to life,” she says. Pressed leaf table numbers and calligraphed leaf escort cards played up the subtle tree motif. Branches and lush florals highlighted the club’s existing wood-burning fireplaces. Gold-painted acorns and twine-wrapped napkins marked each place setting. As a nod to their love of the outdoors, the newlyweds set up a s’mores station for guests and offered pontoon boat rides to partygoers. “I was worried about not being able to do our first dance in my wedding dress, so I changed into a white lace dress that I had packed for our honeymoon,” Megan says. “I quickly ran upstairs to change and was able to dance my heart out.”
