Drawing inspiration from luxe velvet fabrics, the groom’s love of nature and the bride’s Greek heritage, Katina Petsoulis (27 and the owner and baker at Lake Superior Bakehouse) and Logan Kerkhof (31 and the owner and executive of sales at Lake Superior Bakehouse) planned the ultimate fall wedding, complete with a traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony. Katina and her bridesmaids carried vibrant mixes of roses, dahlias, ranunculus and amaranthus down the aisle. “We wanted flowers that reflected the mood, texture and feel of autumn,” she says. Their reception venue, the historic Glensheen estate, was a hit with family and friends. “It was the perfect combination of elegance, nature and nostalgia,” the couple says. The highly personalized celebration was held on the estate grounds with views of Lake Superior. “We wanted the reception to feel like an autumnal feast,” Katina says of the menu, which included sous vide lamb shank and vegetarian ratatouille. The couple also baked mini loaves of a traditional Greek bread, tsoureki, for each guest. Another highlight was the cheesecake buffet, baked by the bride’s best friend’s father—with flavors like earl grey, chocolate hazelnut and pumpkin. Live music, dancing and a bonfire brought the night to a close.
