An Elegant Fall Wedding at Darby House in Galloway, Ohio
When Gail Hunt (27 and a pharmaceutical sales representative) and Adam Smith (27 and a lawyer) first saw the Darby House estate, they knew it would be perfect for their romantic fall nuptials. "Darby House has a rustic elegance to it that we both appreciated, and we really liked the outdoor space," Gail says. A string quartet played throughout the traditional ceremony, which was held on the outdoor patio overlooking Darby Creek. Enchanting woods and fall foliage created a breathtaking backdrop, while wooden farm chairs and seasonal blooms effortlessly complemented the natural scenery. Gail and Adam made a mock departure in a 1915 Oakland, which has been in Adam's family for more than 100 years, taking some time alone to enjoy the picturesque property and changing leaves before circling back for the intimate reception. "I got a lot of my inspiration from the overall look and feel of Darby House," Gail says. "We went with the same rustic-elegant vibe." Incorporating the seasonal colors, the couple infused the space with a rich fall palette of deep burgundy, burnt orange and lush greens with wood and gold accents. Dramatic floral arrangements cascading from atop wrought-iron candelabras created an elegant ambiance, while farm chairs, tree-trunk slabs and wood-burned table numbers added rustic flair. The room was aglow with amber globe lanterns and warm candlelight for an ultraromantic fall fete. —Samantha Meux
