An Elegant, Contemporary Wedding at Le Belvedere in Wakefield, Quebec

“Our theme was simple, since the venue already had so much to offer, and I didn’t want to take anything away from its beauty,” Nancy Bazzi (31 and a pharmacist) says of exchanging vows at Le Belvedere in Wakefield, Quebec. She and Indesh Singh (35 and an electronics buyer) were smitten with the venue from the moment they set foot on its grounds, thanks to its striking scenery, innate sense of intimacy and chic interiors. The ceremony highlighted Wakefield’s natural beauty, with the couple saying “I do” under a pavilion overlooking acres of lush greenery and rolling hills. With a simple white palette and a sleek modern aesthetic, the reception took on a more contemporary tone. “I kept the linens white since I liked the crisp, clean look, plus I wanted the gorgeous backdrop to stand out,” Nancy says. Details such as fern-trimmed flower arrangements and wooden pedestals hinted subtly at the setting. The couple made sure to weave in a few custom touches throughout to put a personal spin on the soiree, treating guests to a family-style vegetarian meal and having a traditional Lebanese drummer play during their grand entrance. “Once you hear the drums playing, it makes you really want to get up and dance,” Nancy says. “I also purchased belly dancing scarves for the ladies to get them on the dance floor. It was so much fun!” A tip from Nancy: “Things don’t have to be perfect. Just remember, it’s about marrying your best friend and starting an exciting new chapter in your life. Your friends and family will have fun regardless of the little things that may not have turned out exactly the way you had envisioned.” —Libby MacCarthy
