An Elegant Barn Wedding at The White Sparrow in Quinlan, Texas

After considering dozens of Dallas venues in the seven months before their nuptials, Chloe Cosby (27 and a nurse) and Austin Rumminger (26 and a member of the US Air Force) immediately saw potential in The White Sparrow. “We didn’t need to spend a ton of money to give it that dreamy appeal, since the barn had it all on its own,” Chloe says of outfitting the whitewashed space with silk linens, baby-blue accents, gold-rimmed goblets and china borrowed from her mom. An oversize wreath served as the focal point of the indoor ceremony. Chloe wasn’t the first bride to wear her borrowed veil. “My two very best friends both wore the same veil for their weddings,” she says. “I guess you could call it the sisterhood of the traveling veil.” As for her “something old,” Chloe slipped her grandmother’s gold wedding ring onto her finger for the ceremony. “She brightens every room she walks into,” Chloe says of her grandmother and flower girl, Ethelene. Since the pair dined at a Mexican restaurant on their first date, savory Mexican fare was an obvious choice for their first meal as newlyweds. The vanilla-almond cake, however, was Chloe’s favorite menu item. “I can’t wait to get my hands on another slice of it as soon as we reach our anniversary,” she says.
