An Elegant Backyard Wedding at a Private Residence in California
Katie Pickrell and Nick Orton met in their chemistry class, and well after the course ended, carried that chemistry between them as they dated throughout the rest of high school and college. After a two-week long trip with her family, Katie arrived back to their apartment in San Francisco to find a bouquet on the front steps of their apartment, dinner cooked and set on the table and a hotel booked in Carmel for the weekend. Last but not least, Katie found Nick outside on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. The couple had their wedding day at Nick’s 1920s-styled home because they didn’t want to have to worry about an end time to their night or an after-party location. The decor was kept very simple due to the beautiful surrounding outdoor gardens of private residence, and the color scheme was primarily ivory and pale green with touches of purple, orange and red from the flower arrangements. A lot of friends and families came from musical backgrounds, so the evening was filled with live performances by people that mattered most to the couple. The “after-party” was held in the basement, where the couple and their friends got to extend the celebration of the glorious marriage that had occurred that day.
