An Elegant and Musical Wedding at the Crowne Plaza in Lansing, Michigan
Phillip Wrenbeck, 26, who works in advertising, and his bride Emily Wrenbeck, also 26, a graduate student, celebrated not only their love for each other but also for their home state of Michigan at their romantic and elegant wedding. The couple met in college through mutual friends and their shared passion for music. "We were instantly best friends and partners in adventure," Emily says of herself and her husband, who got engaged on a mountaintop in Colorado. The couple's wedding style was influenced by many of their favorite things including simplicity, the outdoors and classic beauty. "I wanted to stay away from strict themes or styles, so every element had its own flair and touched on something different," Emily says. A color palette of burgundy, gold, green, black and ivory brought their vision to life at their outdoor ceremony at Emily’s parents' house and their indoor reception at the Crowne Plaza in Lansing, Michigan. The bride and groom made sure to incorporate their love for music into the celebration by making special CDs of their favorite love songs for their 300 guests to take home. Although planning a big wedding is a huge endeavor, Emily says she made sure to compromise and not make the day only about her. "Big weddings are all about getting your loved ones together in the same place to celebrate your love, so make it about your guests,” she says. “It's much more fun if everyone enjoys themselves and feels included in your circle of love."
