An Effortlessly-Chic Wedding Along the California Coast at Timber Cove Resort in Jenner
For this adventure-loving couple, choosing Timber Cove, a cliffside hotel about one-hour south of Mendocino in Jenner along California’s coast was a no brainer. Jenna and David wanted a private locale (they rented the entire property for the entire weekend), in a place that they both loved and visit often, with great food and the most beautiful scenery. This coastal destination gave them just that and served as the foundation for their understated, effortlessly-chic wedding with a color palette "inspired by the coast—navy, green and sand," accented by locally sourced flowers and greenery.
Highlighting, not competing with, the coastal beauty of their California venue was paramount for Jenna and David. "Our main goal was to blend into the scenery and use elements to enhance the backdrop and not take away from it. For the ceremony, we were outside with the backdrop of the ocean. To create a focal point and incorporate the symbol of infinity, we built a circular alter with native elements like pampas grass, dried grass, blue thistle, and white wildflowers. For the reception, we kept it very simple relying on neutrals for linens, plates and chairs and included a pop of color from wildflowers in the centerpieces," Jenna shares of the Timber Cove Resort wedding celebration.
In keeping with their aim to make to the most of the locale, the twosome looked nearby for décor. "We sourced greenery and flowers that are native to the northern Californian coast. We wanted to keep it very minimal and complement the scenery and not steal from it. For the bridal bouquet we used a beautiful and lush natural flowing bouquet of organic and unfussy blooms, such as white garden roses, with touches of local greenery. At the reception dinner we kept it simple with white florals and textural wild greens such as white dahlias, zinnias, white yarrow, scabiosa, chocolate cosmos, white tweedia, pieris bud, and other seasonal blooms," Jenna says.
The began with a serene and contemplative wedding ceremony overlooking the ocean. "During our ceremony, we asked our guests to stand and hold hands while our officiant lead us in a short meditation. Seeing all of our favorite people standing together and holding hands as we contemplated our place in the universe was really special for us and allowed us to see how strong the community we have around us is." Following the vow exchange, guests enjoyed a seated dinner and ice cream for dessert. "David and I realized that we didn't want to do a traditional cake for dessert, so we decided to do an ice cream bar with each of our favorite ice cream flavors. Both happen to be made by local San Francisco creameries. For David, it was Humphry Slocombe Secret Breakfast and for me, Swensen's Sticky Peanut Butter. It was really special for us to be able to share this personal touch with our guests," says Jenna of the sweet treats guests enjoyed to cap off the event.
