An Eclectic, Bohemian Wedding at Tinker House Events in Indianapolis, Indiana
Vintage treasures, hand-tied florals and a one-of-a-kind venue lent Aubree Dipman and Nick Kirkes’s spring wedding in Indianapolis an industrial-boho vibe. “My vision evolved as I found things I loved,” Aubree says. “I hopped from antique stores to Goodwills for months and found timeless, one-of-a-kind pieces that developed into a vision for our day.” Almost all of the décor was thrifted, DIY or rented from Violet Vintage, giving the affair a cozy and eclectic feel. Tufted velvet settees provided an inviting spot for guests to sip cocktails and catch up, while colorful etched glassware added a fun pop of color to the tablescapes. The centerpieces differed from table to table, each featuring a unique mix of wildflowers, thrifted vases, pictures of the newlyweds, votive candles and table numbers. Though a last-minute addition, the guest book table was perfectly in line with the theme. An antique mirror was used as signage, and the couple transformed an old photo album into the guest book. Aubree and Nick put a personalized twist on the chic celebration by writing their own vows, having their best man officiate and sharing a second “secret last dance” before their grand exit. Polaroid cameras were scattered throughout for guests to snap candid shots and an app-focused reception allowed Aubree and Nick to achieve the casual and convivial atmosphere they were after. “Our first dance was not rehearsed. With random spins and dips, it was special in that it was very us—my veil and flower crown both flew off!” Catie says. “The most nerve-racking moment was singing a duet with the best man: ‘In Spite of Ourselves’ by John Prine. All of those moments were so special and memorable because they were totally organic.”
