Seattle-based Sara Roedner (30 and a corporate strategy manager) and Nick O’Gorman (29 and a marketing manager) traveled to the Windy City, their former home, to celebrate in an elegant fete filled with green and purple accents.

“With the majority of our guests coming in from out of town, we wanted to stay within city limits to make sure everyone had the chance to explore our adopted town,” Sara says of returning to the city. Sara donned a sleeveless sheath for their rooftop nuptials, where the couple said “I do” in a Jewish ceremony officiated by the bride’s uncle. “We used my grandfather’s prayer shawl to cover the chuppah and displayed a horseshoe from Nick’s uncle to honor his Irish heritage,” Sara says.

The watercolor invitation suite mirrored the design of the pastel cake—a two-tier confection made from hazelnut cake paired with mocha buttercream and lemon cake filled with fresh raspberry preserves. At the end of the evening, Sara and Nick treated guests to late-night bites from Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria.
