An Art Deco Wedding at Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center in Washington, DC

After a Valentine’s Day proposal, Ashley Dean (30 and a fitness coach) and Tom Davis (42 and a business owner) looked to another holiday to cap off their engagement: New Year’s Eve. “We wanted to have a nice event that friends and family could get dressed up for to ring in the new year,” Ashley says. The pair exchanged vows amid abundant pillar-topped arrangements of hydrangeas, garden roses, peonies, phalaenopsis orchids and ranunculus, with Tom’s daughters joining them at the altar. At the reception, exuberant details brought quintessential NYE flair, including Amy’s beaded gown and a champagne pass by servers dressed as “cigar girls.” The chandelier-like confection featured apple-caramel cake with cream cheese icing and vanilla cake with strawberry and vanilla Italian meringue buttercream. The couple played up the holiday's festive color palette—white, black and gold—for the wedding party's ensemble and added art deco elements to their stationery, cake and welcome totes. Over-21s enjoyed a cigar lounge and pop-up casino, while kids stayed entertained with a face painter and balloon artist. Welcome totes filled with essentials like water, mini bottles of bubbly and national monument cookies prepped revelers for the celebration. At dinner, the room’s mirrored ceiling reflected a marble-like design on the tabletops. To mark midnight, Tom surprised Ashley with confetti cannons and a light-up 2017 sign, while guests buzzed party horns and toasted with champagne. The pair then exited in a horse-drawn carriage through sparklers.
