An Art-Deco-Inspired Wedding at Ca' d'Zan Mansion in Sarasota, Florida

Right down to the stationery and feather-accented bouquets, everything about Brittany Smith (27) and David Bresnahan’s (31) wedding felt like the 1920s. “Both David and I are enamored with the magnificence of Prohibition-era America, from the style of dress and the lavish parties to the carelessness, freedom, and zest for life,” Brittany says. “We wanted to bring all that beauty into our wedding design.” Dideo Films Photography captured every moment as the couple took their first look, shared a sweet ceremony and ended the night in a dance party at Ca' d'Zan Mansion. Built in 1922, their venue was just the right backdrop for an art-deco wedding. Andrea Layne Floral Design filled the terrace with mauve, pink and white garden roses and white hydrangeas around gold candelabras; each was dripping with pearls. Fun black and gold menus, gold chiavari chairs and matching linens served as accents. The couple’s all-white wedding cake stood out against their glitzy decor. Designer Cake Art baked a three-tier confection covered with bold rosette detailing, white and silver chevron stripes and pearl accents. Before they ended the night, Brittany and David enjoyed a few sweet tunes from their friends and family. Brittany’s brother serenaded the couple with a little Frank Sinatra while their friends sang a few songs by the Isley Brothers. David and his fraternity brothers from the University of Florida even sang their “KA Rose Song" to Brittany. For future couples, she shares a quick tip: “Don't sweat the small stuff. It all happens so fast, so enjoy every moment.”
