An Airy, Spring Wedding at Long Green Gardens in Glen Arm, Maryland
Debora Harrer (25 and a human resources administrator) and Kyle Harrer (24 and a senior business analyst) met at nightclub on a cruise. He tried to buy her a drink, but she refused him. Not one to back down from a challenge, Kyle asked her to dance. Debora said she didn't know how to "dance American," but he convinced her to join him on the dance floor anyway. The couple stayed in touch after Debora returned to Brazil and after 9 months, she joined Kyle back in the United States. Kyle proposed to Debora on her birthday at the International Friendship Park in Washington, DC, an appropriate setting for this international couple. Their purple and white spring wedding took place at Long Green Gardens. The theme of their wedding was home, and the wedding design incorporated aspects from both American and Brazilian culture. The traditional Catholic ceremony was performed in both English and Portuguese so that Kyle and Debora's Brazilian guests could understand what was going on. Dining tables at the reception were named after different states and cities in Brazil. Decor was mostly DIY, with centerpieces of purple gerbera daisies and floating candles. Guests danced to a mix of Portuguese and American music, and Kyle surprised everyone by hiring a Brazilian food truck to serve native delicacies at the wedding. Debora and Kyle's wedding beautifully blended both of their backgrounds, and they made all of their guests feel welcome.
