An Airy, Rustic Wedding at Woman's Club of Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia

Louis Fontaine (29) proposed to Holly Speight (28) at a Labor Day cookout the couple was hosting for their close friends and family. Louis called Holly to come over and check out the cake his mom had brought to the party. She uncovered the confection to find "the question" written out in icing, and when she turned around, Louis was on his knee asking for her hand in marriage. Since Louis wanted an outdoor wedding and Holly hoped to get married indoors, the couple compromised by hosting their celebration at the Woman's Club of Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia. The ceremony took place on the porch of the recently renovated venue, after which the party moved inside for the ballroom reception. With a color palette of coral, navy, mint and gold, Holly and Louis had a beautiful and rustic DIY wedding. Banners of coral, mint, burlap and polka-dotted navy cloth draped the hall, and vases dipped in gold glitter shimmered under the crystal chandeliers. Tables were arranged with burlap and lace table runners, gold and navy dinnerware and centerpieces of mint mason jars filled with pink and peach flowers. As a cool vintage touch, table numbers were displayed on antique doorknobs and frames. "We went without a wedding planner, and I'm so glad we did," Holly says. "I felt like everything was under control, and there wasn't one thing that went wrong. If it did, no one noticed."
