An Airy, Romantic Wedding at Adventures on the Gorge in Lansing, West Virginia

Katlyn Goots (27 and assistant director of a resort spa) and John Hatcher (29 and a fly fishing guide) were introduced by mutual friends during college, while Katlyn was visiting West Virginia University. Katlyn ended up extending her visit. "I was smitten," she says. She and John ended up dating for four years, and John proposed to Katlyn on Christmas Day with a bottle of champagne and a home cooked meal. Since the couple is outdoorsy and because they love their home state of West Virginia, they decided to get married at Adventures on the Gorge in Lansing, West Virginia, which boasts stunning views of the New River Gorge and surrounding mountains. Katlyn and John's summer wedding was soft and romantic, with a simple color palette of pink and white. They were married on a mountaintop deck under a wooden pergola. Their poolside reception was held under sailcloth tents, which were decorated with floral arrangements of pink roses, pink gerbera daisies, white hydrangeas and baby's breath in candelabras and trumpet vases. Katlyn wore a gorgeous ivory trumpet style wedding dress with lace appliques, which she paired with a lace trim fingertip veil. Her bridesmaids wore knee length, flowy dresses in the shades and styles of their choosing. John and the groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos with boutonnieres of baby's breath and sprigs of lavender. Katlyn and John's bright, airy wedding was pretty and fresh.
