Though it was far from love at first sight when they met their freshman year of college (“we were not very fond of each other upon our first meeting,” Amy says), by their sophomore year, Amy Benedict and Cameron Pratt were best friends. Once their junior year rolled around, they were dating. Lying in bed, Cam asked Amy to grab him a glass of water. When Amy returned to the room, the two decided to go out for breakfast. As Amy went to the side table to put on her jewelry, including the silver ring Cam had given her for college graduation, she found that he had replaced the ring with her grandmother’s engagement ring. “After a bit of a freak-out, I was able to say ‘yes!’” Amy recalls.
