Amy & Andrew in Maplewood, NJ
Nearly the same day Amy started working for The Knot, she met the man of her dreams. A coincidence? Yes -- unfortunately, we can't take all the credit! THE BRIDE Amy Shey, 24, public relations manager for The Knot THE GROOM Andrew Jacobs, 34, an attorney THE DATE July 14 As public relations manager for The Knot, Amy has planned quite a few high-profile weddings (for the likes of the Today show, The View, and Oprah, no less), a feat she can perform practically with her eyes closed. But flash back to a few years ago, when Amy was a brand-new Knottie celebrating her new position at a bar with some friends. While waiting for a rainstorm to pass so she could leave, Amy spotted a handsome man across a crowded room. Without hesitation, she says, she walked right up to him. They exchanged information and had a few laughs. Five minutes later, Andrew asked Amy to marry him. Ask me every day until you mean it, she retorted. And after they spent that night talking until dawn, that's exactly what he continued to do. One year to the day later, Andrew took Amy to a tiny French bistro in New York City's Greenwich Village to kick off a romantic weekend. Although he had originally planned to propose the following day at the famous Boathouse restaurant in Central Park, the site of their first date (at the exact table to boot), the opportunity presented itself when one of their songs began to play over the bistro's sound system. Andrew pushed the table aside and got down on one knee. This time, he meant it. (A French photographer passing on the street caught the moment through the window, and the photo was given a special spot at the reception.) Suddenly Amy found herself about to plan the event she had been preparing for all of this time, and the countdown to the wedding began.
