Amberley and Doug wed with a lilac and white palette and a fun-filled celebration at the bride's family's Alabama home. The Bride Amberley Machelle Holley, 27, analyst The Groom Richard Douglas Jackson, Jr., 25, economist The Date August 20 How They Met Amberley and Doug first met through one of Amberley's sorority sisters, who was dating Doug's roommate at the time. Though they didn't make a connection the first time they met, when they were re-introduced later Doug asked Amberly out on a date. More than five years later, Doug surprised Amberley with a sweet proposal. He asked her if she could read over something for him, which she assumed was work-related. Instead, it was a humorous, sweet children's book of our relationship that he had written and drawn in crayon, Amberley remembers. After I read it, he proposed.

The bridesmaids arrived up the drive first, in a white, horse-drawn carriage.
The groom's cake was a tribute to the couple's alma mater -- a German chocolate cake in the shape of the University of Alabama's Bryant-Denny stadium.
The bride's cake was a four-tier white cake adorned with the couple's monogram and white roses.
The party unfolded beneath three large tents set up along the back and one side of the house. The tents were lit with strings of lights and paper lanterns, as well as plenty of candles and white flowers.
Amberley and Doug exchanged vows in front of the bride's family's home, a large, antebellum-style house.
