Just two months after Alison met Patrick (Pat) she told her best friend she was going to marry him. The pair first met through a friend of Alison’s—Pat was a new hire with his firm. “At the time, I was just enjoying life, not looking for any commitment,” Alison remembers. “Pat was right out of college so I really gave it zero chance of amounting to anything.” Though it wasn’t long until the odds changed, it was a bit longer until Alison’s prediction proved correct.
