A proposal in Punta Cana was the perfect way to ring in the New Year for Alicia and Steven. The college sweethearts were on vacation with family and friends to celebrate the holiday, and right before their big night out Steven pulled Alicia aside for a romantic walk on the beach. The Bride Alicia Sloan, 25, senior staffing manager The Groom Steven Sleight, 27, marketing coordinator The Date March 1 It was a chilly and windy night and Alicia didn't want to be outside. Caught off guard, Steven quickly got down on one knee in the sand and asked her to marry him. When they returned to the States, the couple began planning a chocolate brown, ice blue and silver wedding in the ballroom of the Detroit Golf Club.

The ceremony was a family affair. Not only did the bride's cousin officiate, but the couple recited vows they wrote themselves, and friends and family offered words of love and good wishes for their marriage.
Aqua blue sleightinis made with vodka, blue Curacao and a twisted lemon peel set the tone for the winter-themed wedding reception.
Menus tied with chocolate brown ribbon tucked into white napkins complemented the gold-beaded chargers.
Ice blue satin sashes complemented the bridesmaid's strapless, tea-length, chocolate brown dresses. Three flower girls walked down the aisle together in white satin dresses with brown sashes.  Alicia's dropped-waist, lace and beaded gown had a chapel-length train. An elbow-length veil, simple ballet slippers and diamond stud earrings completed her look.
White linens and china stood out against the mahogany decor of the Detroit Club's ballroom. Lush centerpieces and ambient lighting added to the cozy, winter vibe.
The groom's white calla lily matched the bride's bouquet.
