A “barn bash”-themed fraternity party doesn’t sound like the setting for romance, but for Aimee and Ryan, both college students at the time -- sparks flew. They started dating, and four-and-a-half years later, Aimee and Ryan planned a trip to the Caribbean to celebrate the end of Aimee’s law school exams. When he got back, he told Aimee he had something for her, but he wanted to give it to her now so she could wear it on the trip. “My first instinct was, ‘Oh dear God, he got me a bathing suit!’” Aimee remembers. But the next thing she knew, he was on one knee. She said yes, and he told her that her family was on their way and his “trip to the ATM” had been to buy flowers and champagne.
