A Yellow Golf-Inspired Wedding at Nicklaus Golf Club at Lions Gate in Overland Park, Kansas
Julie Sandals (a nurse) and Bill McCrea (a financial adviser) met through mutual friends. Bill proposed at the Intercontinental Kansas City at the Plaza, which is also where they decided to exchange vows. They loved the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the plaza and decided to keep the decorations basic with white and yellow rose petals down the aisle. They wanted the venue’s beauty to speak for itself. Afterwards, the couple took a ride around the golf course in a golf cart for a few minutes alone as newlyweds before heading to Nicklaus Golf Club at Lions Gate for the reception. “Bill has golfed his whole life,” Julie says. “I had never swung a club in my life. He taught me how to play when we were dating, and I fell in love with the sport. We play together whenever we can and enjoy the time together. That's why we choose a beautiful golf course to have the reception.” They used black, white and yellow and the golf theme throughout the details in everything from the formal black-and-white attire to the simple yellow floral arrangements to the monogrammed golf tee favors. At the end of the night, they enjoyed a black, white and yellow fondant cake accented with yellow and white rose petals.
