A World Fair-Inspired Wedding at Forest Park Visitor Center in St. Louis, Missouri

Aja Falker (29 and a product director at Macy’s Inc) and Shukree Tilghman (33 and a screenwriter and documentary filmmaker) met online. Three years later, Shukree proposed in Riverside Park in New York City. When it came time for their wedding, the New York-based couple decided to get married in Aja’s hometown in St. Louis, Missouri. They laughed, cried, exchanged vows and even jumped the broom (literally) at Central Baptist Church before heading to the historic Forest Park Visitor Center for their reception. Inspired by the 1904 St. Louis World Fair, the couple decided to have a modern fair theme for their day. The wedding party took a trolley from the ceremony to reception, the couple used oversized balloons with tassels to decorate cocktail hour, parasols hung over the dance floor and guests enjoyed fair-themed food such as kettle corn and frozen custard. Aja and Shukree used coral and gold as their main colors and added glittery, metallic accents through the table linens and centerpieces. At the end of the night, guests were treated to local goodies such as Fitz's Root Beer and Billy Goat Chips.
