A Wisteria and Clover Garden Wedding at Weymouth Center in Southern Pines, North Carolina
Charles (Chris) Younger (27 and a sequencing specialist) proposed to Laurelin Cottingham (33 and a cytogenetics technologist) after they had been living together for a year. "He cooked me a romantic dinner and I was in the middle of eating my chocolate lava cake when my fork hit something hard," says Laurelin." I was a little creeped out at first until I realized that it was a ring and I excitedly told him it was about time!" The couple decided to plan a local affair for their relaxed spring wedding and invited guests to celebrate at the Weymouth Center in Southern Pines, North Carolina. The couple accented their lavender and lime color palette with a cheery array of spring colors and after the outdoor ceremony, guests were able to tour the historic house and gardens. "I envisioned a simple, outdoor, spring wedding I and didn't want the flowers to take away from the beauty of the surroundings," says Laurelin. For their overall decor, the couple wanted to incorporate both of their styles—Chris is country and Laurelin has a bohemian flare—so they compromised with horseshoe accents along with lush iris accents.
