A Winter Mountain Wedding at Wild Basin Lodge in Allenspark, Colorado
Mariya (Mari) Connors (28 and a teacher) and Andrew (Andy) Melby (27 and an engineer) met through mutual friends. Andy proposed in their apartment on a quiet Sunday morning while they were still in their pjs. With only four months to plan their wedding, the couple ensured everything came together quickly. First, they found a venue they both loved. “We knew we wanted a small wedding and did not want to spend a lot of time planning the details,” Mari says. “I loved the venue itself but also how easy they were to work with and how reasonable their prices were.” They had 45 guests for their intimate wedding in Allenspark, Colorado, so they got to spend quality time with each guest. They also loved the natural exposed wood and rustic vibe of the venue. They kept decor to a minimum with string lighting and simple centerpieces. Mari and Andy used the winter season as their inspiration, especially since it was snowing. Floral Design of Europe created beautiful floral arrangements with pine, silver brunia, mums and succulents. Many of the rustic details were done by Mari and Andy, such as the rustic wood escort cards and burlap-wrapped mason jars.
