A Whimsical Wedding at The Royal Sonesta New Orleans in New Orleans, Louisiana
Troy DeMar (30 and an application developer) met Taryn Pickett (28 and works in human resources) through her sister and proposed about six years later. The couple had just finished celebrating Taryn’s favorite holiday, Halloween, in Salem, Massachusetts, when he got down on one knee. “He so sweetly gave his speech about love and life and presented the most beautiful round diamond with a halo!” says Taryn. The couple spent the next year planning a wedding in their hometown, New Orleans. “We knew instantly that The Royal Sonesta was the place,” says Taryn. “It is perfectly located on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, which gave our guests that true New Orleans experience and the ballroom was the perfect fit for the vision I had for our wedding.” With a glitz and glamour theme in mind, whimsical touches and purple accents were used throughout the day. Tall gold candelabras and candles in cylinder vases lined the couple’s indoor ceremony aisle as two clear trumpet vases filled with white hydrangea, purple garden roses, pink ranunculus and pink peonies were placed toward the front. Taryn and Troy were wed under a white fabric draped arch accented with pink and purple ranunculus. Thier reception included a dinner menu filled with local cuisine and decor that mirrored the ceremony. Purple uplighting fell onto round and square tables covered with textured ivory linens. Each was met with lucite chairs and tall floral centerpieces of white hydrangea, purple ranunculus and pink ranunculus. Her and Troy ended their celebration with a fun Second Line parade.
