A Whimsical, Vintage Wedding at the Venue at the Grove in Phoenix, Arizona

Morgan McDonald (27 and a financial recruiter) and Justin Halberg (29 and a credit investor) met through the business fraternity at Arizona State University. After almost a year of dating, they both graduated and uprooted their lives to move to New York City together. The proposal was a complete surprise: Justin told Morgan that he was working late and would meet her out for dinner reservations, but when Morgan came home, she found roses all over their apartment and Justin waiting with a bottle of champagne and their cat, Reggie. After they called their parents and went out to a quiet dinner together, Justin took Morgan out for one more glass of champagne, where all the couple’s friends were waiting to surprise her. Their wedding and reception were at the Venue at the Grove in Phoenix, Arizona. “We are both from Arizona, so we always knew that we wanted to come back to Arizona for our wedding,” says Morgan. We wanted to host a fun, casual and classic event for all of our friends, and the idea of hosting a garden party couldn’t have been more perfect.” The bride wore a lace Nicole Miller wedding dress with a Grecian neckline and a floor length, streamlined skirt, and the groom wore a light gray suit with a navy tie and white boutonniere. The color palette was ivory and navy with gold accents. “The aesthetic I wanted to achieve was a classic garden party with vintage influences. My friends that attended all walked in and told me that it felt like ‘my’ wedding,’ which was exactly what I wanted,” says Morgan.
