A Whimsical Vintage Wedding at a Private Residence in Aurora, Nebraska
Gabriela Ayala (30, Manager at a Fair Trade Shop) and Braden Johnson (32, a File Clerk) had known each other for several years before they started dating. When Gabriela moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, they re-connected through mutual friends. Braden proposed on a road trip through New Mexico. "We had just finished visiting Taos Pueblo and had planned to stop at the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge on our way back into town. A huge storm was coming and I kept saying we should just go back and come to the bridge the next day. Braden was insistent we stop there, though! We got out and all of these gorgeous and ominous storm clouds were in the sky. He asked me to marry him on the bridge just as it started sprinkling. It was amazing--a memory I will never forget!" Gabriela recalls. The couple chose to have their wedding on Braden's family farm because they wanted the freedom to do their own thing. Whimsical elements like Mario Bros. cupcakes and road signs to their favorite fantasy places brought out the couple's personalities perfectly. "We just wanted to create a space that was whimsical, laid back and welcoming," Gabriela says.
