A Whimsical Secret Garden Wedding at a Private Residence in Salt Lake City, Utah

Rebecca Kjar (29, data tech) and Justin Hale (29, contractor) went to the same high school but never really knew each other or hung out. Some time later, after moving back to Utah, Rebecca changed her number on Facebook and began to get back in touch with high school acquaintances. Though at first Justin was too shy to call, he eventually hit the call button, and half an hour later they had planned their first date. The pair hit it off right away and were inseparable from then on. Justin proposed to Rebecca on a trip in Moab, Utah, while hiking Angels Landing. They chose to be married in Rebecca’s mother’s backyard across from the Utah State Capitol Building. “We wanted an outdoor wedding that felt like a secret garden,” says Rebecca. The atmosphere in the landscaped yard with myriad flowers and greenery was peaceful and remote. “It felt very intimate and all the guests said it was very serene and relaxing,” says Rebecca. The wedding palette was inspired by the bride’s favorite colors as well as her love for vintage and spring. She chose coral, teal, grays and creams to compliment the warm September atmosphere, and selected each flower in her bouquet to depict a garden.
