A Whimsical, Rustic Wedding at Balmorhea in Magnolia, Texas
At their whimsical, fun-filled wedding, Stephanie King (25 and a teacher) and Greg Houston (27 and an engineer) agreed: “We wanted to set the tone of: This is about to be fun.” They selected the Balmorhea in Magnolia, Texas, for its rustic outdoor and indoor spaces and the size of its reception hall. “We wanted a place with a big dance floor… getting to the dance floor was our number-one priority,” Stephanie says. For the wedding style, “I was inspired by natural light, peonies and shades of orange and pink,” the bride says. “My florist, Bramble & Bee, caught my vision and exceeded all my expectations," she says. "The flowers at my wedding blew me away.” The photographer, Lizard Nickel, helped the couple create memories and special moments throughout the day, especially the moments they had alone after family portraits. “Those moments that we had to just hug and laugh and say 'We did it!' were so sweet,” Stephanie says. When the couple joined their reception party, they made an effort to dance as much as possible, spinning kids around and starting group dances. “We pulled people out there on the dance floor, all to say, ‘Come party with us.’ ” The bride offers tips for future couples planning their wedding. “It is super-easy to have unrealistic expectations for everything. We picked two priorities: Get married in front of the most important people in our lives and share the love. As long as those things happened, we knew it would be a win.”
