A Whimsical, Romantic Wedding at The River Road and Jasmine House in Lexington, South Carolina
From the moment Steven Furtick (28 and a truck driver) popped the question, Andrea Furtick (24 and an artist) knew that a romantic, garden-inspired wedding was in the cards. The River Road and Jasmine House, tucked away in charming Lexington, SC, provided the ideal backdrop for the intimate affair with its brilliant blooms, lush shrubbery and elegant stone fountains filled with lily pads. The day started off with a ceremony at sunset out in the garden, with Andrea and Steven exchanging vows under a canopy of softly lit, blush paper lanterns and a Victorian-style gazebo draped with airy chiffon fabric and strands of sparkling crystals. “The garden itself was gorgeous,” says Andrea, “so we tried to keep the extra décor to a minimum.” A color palette of blush, pink, black, gold and cream infused the evening with an elegant, feminine vibe, while details like rose petals and floating candles lining the aisles added a romantic, whimsical note to the décor. What followed was a fun-filled evening of dinner and dancing under an open-air tent in the midst of the gardens. The River Road and Jasmine House’s full-service approach, complete with a top-notch planner and catering, allowed Andrea to really focus on the details that would make the day feel personal and special. “I wrote every word of the ceremony,” says Andrea, “from the vows to the poetry and the inclusion of a hand-fasting tradition. To this day, my relatives tell me how beautiful and unique the ceremony was.” A tip for the taking from Andrea: "Flowers are incredibly expensive. I was able to save thousands of dollars by ordering them wholesale and assembling them myself at home the day before the wedding."
