A Whimsical Pink-and-Green Garden Wedding at The Lace House in Columbia, South Carolina

Whenever Iman Hemphill (34 and an industrial engineering package planner) and Benjamin (Benji) Pruitt (32 and an instrumentations technician) travel, they seek out a place to have high tea. “Afternoon tea is a mood,” Iman says. “I wanted to bring that to our wedding.” The antebellum Lace House was a natural place to create that indulgent, decadent vibe. The couple exchanged vows and had a wine unity ceremony in the walled garden, then danced under a canopy of trees. Abundant flowers, warm lighting and gold chiavari chairs completed the look. A sweet mix of peonies, roses, hydrangeas, ranunculus, delphiniums and eucalyptus created lush arrangements throughout the reception while soft blue linens, vintage candlesticks and vases with roses and foliage created a romantic mood. Fans of color, the couple matched vibrant custom cocktail napkins to the invitations, which donned a colorful crest that they could use on their stationery in the future. During the ceremony, the couple’s spaniel mix, Libby, walked down the aisle with the flower girls, then broke free to process with Iman and her father. “It looked perfect and everyone thought it was planned,” Iman says. Iman and Benji opted not to do a cocktail hour so guests could dive straight into dinner. Guests dined on pulled-pork hushpuppy waffes with purple slaw, pecan chicken tossed in maple butter and finger sandwiches before devouring the lemon-strawberry, vanilla and sweet potato-caramel cake. To end the night in style, the newlyweds drove out in a classic black-and-white Jaguar.
