A Whimsical Pastel Wedding at Lovely Bake Shop in Chicago, Illinois

Renee (31 and in property management) and Steven (30 and an architect) met at a bar on a night when neither had planned on going out but had been coerced by friends. After a few years of dating, Steven decided to propose to Renee on the night of the homecoming dance she had planned as a student activities coordinator at DePaul University. Unfortunately, it snowed six inches that night, and Steven only made it to the end of the dance. He pulled up in an SUV (the limo he rented couldn’t make it in the snow), dressed in a suit and carrying flowers, and waited for Renee to finish handling collegiate drama before finally proposing. Steven recounts, “I was so nervous, I couldn’t speak. She knew what was happening, but all I could do was show her the ring.” Luckily, they managed to make it through the snow to dinner, where all of her friends were waiting to congratulate and celebrate with the newly engaged couple. While searching for a small, intimate venue, Renee found and fell in love with Lovely Bake Shop in Chicago, Illinois, with an outdoor garden for the ceremony and a charming restaurant space for a colorful and whimsical wedding.
