A Whimsical Nautical Wedding at Hotel Galvez in Galveston, Texas

Lane Sealy (29 and an architect) met Eric Green (33 and an attorney) in Austin, Texas on a blind date involving dinner on South Congress Avenue followed by drinks and a Ben Kweller concert. After just over a year of dating, at a private dinner with the couple’s parents, Eric got down on one knee. Meanwhile, all of the couple’s family and friends filtered into the room, so Lane and Eric spent the rest of the night celebrating their engagement with champagne and loved ones. The couple hosted their wedding in Galveston, a special place in their family histories and relationship with each other. It was while touring “Open Gates,” the Sealy family’s ancestral home and now a part of the University of Texas Medical Branch, that the marriage seed was first planted and continued to grow. At the ceremony in the Trinity Episcopal Church, the bride took part in a Sealy family tradition by wearing her great-great-grandmother’s ornate veil. The reception took place at Hotel Galvez in Galveston. Its location on the Gulf Coast inspired the whimsical ocean decor in coral reds with gold and taupe accents. Lane and Eric passed out pirate-themed accessories as a tribute to Pirate Jean Lafitte’s infamous career on Galveston Island, and made their grand exit wearing tricorn hats into a vintage Rolls Royce that carried them away.
