A Whimsical, "Great Gatsby"–Inspired Wedding at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, New Jersey
Who says you can’t mix peacock feathers with Art Deco details? Rebecca Swensen (28 and in marketing) and John Dilthey (42 and a director of service-center operations) did just that for a "Great Gatsby"–inspired wedding filled with vintage flair. The couple started their celebration with a first look and indoor ceremony at The Palace at Somerset Park. Arrangements of white hydrangeas and feathers were placed atop tall white columns by A Touch of Elegance Floral and Event Design as the couple’s triangular wedding arch was decorated with the same blooms. When Rebecca entered the room, she walked past lines of candlelight in an ivory Maggie Sottero wedding dress with a chapel train and ruched detailing. Her bouquet added a burst of color: Purple orchids and mauve roses stood out with bright peacock feathers sprouting from the center. John waited for her in a black-and-white tuxedo and a blue orchid boutonniere. “As he said, it is the Indiana Jones tux,” says Rebecca. After the couple exchanged vows, they ended the night with a fun reception with accents of white feathers, candlelight and navy linens. Did we mention the wedding cake? The venue’s pastry chef fit the couple's theme and baked a four-tier geometric confection covered in black-and-white lines! DJ Adam Rae Wolff helped the newlyweds end their day with another important aspect: “Music is a big part of our lives, so it was intertwined into everything,” says Rebecca. “We probably spent more time picking out the perfect music for each part of the day than we did anything else.” Jaye Kogut Photography captured every joyous blue and purple detail, below.
