A Whimsical Garden Wedding at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, California
Hannah Mac Kechnie (24 and in loan origination) and Zachary George (25 and in tech support) let their laid-back and playful personalities shine for their wedding at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, California. A Ferris wheel, delicious food and beer, and snazzy attire (Hannah wore Chuck Taylors) brought their quirky wedding to life. Hannah and Zach exchanged vows under an oak tree. “The main ceremony area at Calamigos was so beautiful, with so much of its own greenery and that big oak tree, and I didn’t want to add anything except for little mason jars with flowers on the end of every other row and rose petals on the main aisle,” Hannah says. The bride walked down the aisle to “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri, which Hannah’s friend Fong played on the violin. Zach, falling to his knees and crying tears of joy, was overcome with emotion as he saw Hannah walk down the aisle. The bride and groom decorated their reception space with mirrors and glass accents, loose floral arrangements and a palette of blush and green. Zach tapped into his creative side for the tented reception, making rectangular wooden tables for guests. “I wanted my wedding to be whimsical with an old-world, enchanted feeling,” Hannah says. —Marissa Hermanson
