A Whimsical, Food-Focused Fall Wedding at the Woodend Nature Sanctuary in Chevy Chase, Maryland
From their Southern comfort food dinner to an elaborate dessert spread, Alexandra Mudry (32 and a pastry chef) and Daniel Till (30 and a chef) food-focused wedding left friends and family well fed.
“We wanted lots of comfort food, great cocktails and a really intimate feel to the whole day,” Alexandra says. A color palette of rich jewel tones—crimson, burgundy, marsala, pomegranate, ruby and bright orange—reflected the fall season, while the couple’s endearing vows added personality. “Writing our own vows was super important to us,” she says. “They were so heartfelt, funny and honest—and so in sync with one another.”
The couple included their favorite love quotes in their handwritten vows.
The couple’s friend, calligrapher Laura Hooper, wrote the menu on a long scroll that hung from a shepherd’s hook outside the reception tent. She also created the escort card macarons, displayed on spinning stands. “Our guests loved searching for their names, not to mention eating them!” the bride says.
