A Whimsical, Elegant Wedding at The Boathouse at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York

“We wanted to make sure everyone felt compelled to dance,” Fabiola Tavarez (a marketing director) says of her and Paras Shah’s (a strategy director) lively, waterfront fusion wedding in Prospect Park across the pond from where Paras proposed.

To honor Paras’s Indian heritage and symbolize their union, the couple exchanged floral garlands made from pink orchids and orange carnations—the same blooms that adorned their fabric-draped ceremony arch.

One hour before the start of the ceremony, the groomsmen surprised Paras with a hip-hop brass band during his baraat (Indian wedding processional). “PitchBlak Brass Band performed some of Paras’s favorite hip-hop songs as a gift,” Fabiola says. “He loved every minute of it.”
