A Whimsical DIY Wedding at the Stella Plantation in Braithwaite, Louisiana
Beverly, a corporate/ touring lighting technician, 37, and Wade, 43, also a corporate/touring lighting technician, wanted to represent their personalities and a touch of New Orleans in their wedding. "We decided to use the fleur-de-lis, found all around New Orleans, as our main accent element," says Beverly. The couple chose purple and gold as their wedding colors. Their fleur-de-lis accent was found throughout the wedding in DIY elements handmade by the bride. These include the couple's stationery, the groom and groomsmen's vests as well as their ties. Beverly also made her two-piece floor-length veil, which was attached by a clip. She wore a white satin strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline. The bridesmaids wore different styled David's Bridal dresses in various shades of purple. Purple was also the main color for the couple's reception. Being in the lighting industry, the couple designed their purple reception lighting installations and paper lanterns. Beverly and Wade were wed in front of 100 members of their friends and family, majority of which came from out of town. Their guests enjoyed a buffet-style dinner with "local flair" that included gumbo, shrimp, roasted duck and more, says Beverly. Each guest was given a Morano glass fleur-de-lis keychain as a wedding favor.
