A Whimsical DIY Wedding at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona
Sheena Gamache (29 and a general manager) jokingly told Tim Hjelmstad (30 and a stay-at-home dad) she wanted a baby giraffe for Christmas, so he presented her with a box containing a giraffe Beanie Baby—and an engagement ring atop one of its horns. The couple got married where they met, at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, and brightened the greenery of the golf course with lots of yellow decor complemented by gray accents. Their two-year-old son, Brayden, stole the show as the ring bearer, accompanied down the aisle by two flower girls in tutus. Sheena and Tim’s wedding ceremony included a wine box ceremony—they each sealed a letter inside a wooden box with a bottle of wine to be opened on their five-year anniversary. The couple’s friends and family helped them make their wedding true to their style, from the DIY decor and chalkboard signs, the videography, the reception dinner and the cake. “Our wedding, including every small detail, was better than I had ever dreamed of,” says Sheena. “We couldn’t have done it without the help of our parents and friends.”
