A Whimsical Desert Wedding at the Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club in Superstition Mountain, Arizona
Sara Cho (29 and a fashion designer) and Wyatt Everett (29 and in information technology) met while attending college in Arizona. Six years later, the couple was preparing to take a trip to Canada to attend a cousin’s wedding. By this point, Sara had adopted the habit of asking Wyatt when he was going to propose, and in order to prepare Sara for this trip, Wyatt assured her that it was not going to happen while they were in Canada. Little did she know, Wyatt did intend on popping the question. First, he thought he would propose on the 13-hour train ride from New York City to Toronto, but the experience was altogether unromantic. A few days later, the couple visited the Royal Ontario Museum to look at the precious stones in the jewels collection. Just when Wyatt thought he had found the perfect moment… Sara announced she needed to take a bathroom break! When Sara returned, Wyatt seized the moment and got down on one knee. The couple got married at the Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club, a wide open venue with a panoramic backdrop of mountains. The color palette was ivory with many shades of green to feel like a whimsical woodland tea party in the desert. “I wanted everything to look a little handmade, and everything from the cake to the centerpieces and place cards to look like little pieces of art,” says Sara. She handmade many of the details herself, from four of her bridesmaids’ dresses, a mailbox used for cards and each name card tag tied to miniature pewter chairs and pitchers. The couple’s friends and family participated in the day, too: One of the bridesmaids and a friend each read funny stories that reflected the couple’s nerdy sense of humor, one of the bride’s friends was the videographer and the bride’s cousins spun music that had guests dancing until the end of the night.
