A Whimsical Beach Wedding at the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach in Florida
On their wedding day, physicians Monica Mukherjee and James Henri Clark celebrated not only the marriage of two people, but also that of two cultures. Monica, whose family hails from India, and James, who was born in England, followed that principle down to the smallest details. “We wanted an English country garden party, but with elements of India,” Monica says. The pair also switched up the color scheme. “Red is the customary color of Hindu weddings, but I wanted soft, beachy tones to represent the sand and water of Florida,” Monica says. The couple covered their paper goods in Mughal-inspired elephants alongside calligraphy. At the end of the night, guests took home Indian sweets and papier-mâché ornaments straight from Kolkata.
Gold chargers, greenery runners and vibrant pink peonies added a pop of color to the clean, white tablescapes. Monica carried pink peonies and roses as well as greenery and leaves. Monica and James used the details of the traditional Indian ceremony stage to artfully combine both of their cultures. “We chose antique, British-inspired furniture and a chandelier for the mandap,” Monica says. The couple covered the tent in oversize peonies, roses and eucalyptus.
