A Whimsical Barn Wedding at the County Line Orchard in Hobart, Indiana

Not many couples can pull off a barn wedding that includes board games, traditional kilts and a Harry Potter-themed cake, but to-be-weds April (26 and a scientific illustrator) and Jeremy (29 and a software craftsman) did just that. After meeting online and sharing a first date the The Field Museum of Chicago, this Illinois-based (and self-proclaimed quirky) couple set out to celebrate their special day with at the County Line Orchard in Hobart. "Our history with the venue is what made it special to us," April says. "We had gone there on our nine-month anniversary and went back ever since." The two tied the knot in an outdoor ceremony that included personal elements like a traditional, full formal Scottish  kilt worn by the groom and a bagpipe processional played by the bride's close friend. Once they said "I do", the couple and over 100 friends retreated to the orchard's barn where they were treated to a rustic reception filled with board game elements -- including a custom-made guestbook crafted from recycled Apples to Apples cards! "We just encouraged them to have fun," the couple explains. "Some simply signed their names and many wrote lovely messages. There were also plenty of funny drawings that will bring a smile to our faces any day." As far as wedding advice goes? "We were able to organize the wedding mostly on our own but quickly realized that having a coordinator would have saved us a lot of stress," April says. "We almost didn't have a cake and had to rush to find a ring maker because both of our original choices let us down!"
