A Whimsical and Elegant Wedding at James Ward Mansion in Westfield, New Jersey.

Kristin Mauer (30 and a social worker) William Rodriguez (31 and a wedding photographer) met online and were both dating other people on and off before they decided to meet in person. “We probably had four dates in that first week,” Kristin says. Their relationship grew very serious very quickly, and the two became inseparable. Will proposed on the Brooklyn Bridge after asking a few passersby to take their photo (but really asking them to record the proposal!). When it came to the wedding, they knew right away that they didn’t want a church or a reception hall, so after some research, they found James Ward Mansion in the heart of Westfield, New Jersey. The couple chose not to have a traditional color palette, opting instead for vibrant flower arrangements of magenta and purple with sliced lemons and limes to contrast with the neutral linens, light gold floral bridesmaid dresses, and dark navy groomsmen suits. The groomsmen also wore brightly-colored suspenders with whimsical Ninja Turtle cufflinks and socks to showcase their quirky personalities. Kristin incorporated several personal elements into her bridal look, including a custom monogrammed Spanish mantilla veil, a sorority sister's badge pinned to her neckline, and a necklace from a deceased friend's wedding tied to her bouquet. The sports-loving groom had his own groom's cake acknowledging his favorite teams, and he even gave each of his groomsmen their own personalized baseball jerseys. Kristin and Will made sure to keep their guests entertained as well as comfortable, providing flip flops to change out of their heels and homemade mason jars full of cookie mix to take home.
