A Western-Inspired Wedding at Travaasa Austin in Texas

Felicia Smith (38 and a principal and vice president of finance) and Gideon Powell (28 and a director of acquisitions and new ventures) wanted to match the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country for their outdoor wedding. Both Gideon and Felicia are native Texans and “couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else but the state we so dearly love,” Felicia says. The groom hand-painted each escort card and finished each one with a plant from his ranch. He also wore a custom suit with Western stitching, while the bridesmaids and flower girls accessorized with cowboy boots. The pair left the reception in a golf cart draped in a Texas flag and made their way to their hotel.

Our favorite #MakeTradition moment: Felicia and Gideon's first activity as newlyweds was taking communion. “Both Gideon and I felt strongly that this sacred act should be the first thing we do together in our marriage,” says Felicia.
