He called the next day and said, “I know I’m breaking all the rules, but I wanted to wish you good luck for your first day at work—and take you to dinner on Wednesday.” Rachel was thrilled he hadn’t abided by the “wait three days to call” guideline and happily accepted. When David learned that Rachel’s parents would be in town at the same time his were planning to be, he decided to give them something to celebrate. He took Rachel out to dinner and proposed after dessert. For their wedding, the couple went with a black-and-white color combo with red accents.

Tiers of citrus-flavored vodka shots were displayed next to a station with gravlax, flatbread with cured salmon on top. The bride wasn’t thrilled about having cured salmon (a Jewish tradition) at her wedding, but gave in when the caterer said it paired well with her favorite liquor!
Calla lilies and roses popped out of the scene with dark tablecloths, chairs, and chandeliers. “I wanted it to have a swanky feel,” says Rachel.
The band played Allison Krauss’ “When You Say Nothing at All” for the couple’s first dance.
The couple’s monogram made out of white roses hung in front of the bar area. White votives decorated the backdrop.
Small pins attached card stock to bright strands of ribbon. The couple kept the design on the cards simple, since the vertical display was already eye-catching.
The couple’s silver monogram topped the four-tiered, buttercream-frosted cake. Strips of chocolate frosting made the cake appear larger than life.
