Emalie had mixed feelings about Jonathan the first time she met him. Jonathan was a singer in a local band, and since Emalie was into the music scene, she knew who he was—and thought he was a bit cocky. It wasn’t until their first date that her perception changed. Jonathan had planned to take her to a movie, but it was sold out, so they walked through a bookstore and ended up having a conversation that changed Emalie’s view of him as a “typical” band guy. Yellow scabiosa and a single calla lily combined for a modern bout. The guinea feathers punched up Jonathan’s otherwise classic look.
Polka-dot shoes added an edge to Emalie’s traditional look. “I have tattoos and a quirky personality, so I still wanted some of that to shine through,” she says.

After Emalie’s brother escorted her down the aisle, she and Jonathan exchanged traditional vows in front of a fountain in the Trammell Crow Sculpture Garden.
Hydrangeas and gerbera daisies hung from the backs of chairs. Since the couple wed in a sculpture garden, few additional decorations were needed.
Cards with a modern font and polka-dot design (which also coordinated with Emalie’s shoes!) topped each table.
Guests’ names were handwritten on cards which had a polka-dot design in the couple’s wedding palette.
