A Warm, Bright Wedding at CrossKeys Vineyards in Mt. Crawford, Virginia
Sarah Newlon (23, speech pathologist) and Matthew Burton (24, graduate student in physics) lived in the same building during their freshman year of college but never met. In their junior year, Matthew joined an organization that Sarah was heavily involved in, but Sarah found him intimidating and avoided him. Finally, in their senior year, they became friends. One thing led to another, and a year later Matt proposed to Sarah during a family vacation to the Outer Banks. Since they met in the Shenandoah Valley, Sarah and Matt wanted to have their wedding set against its picturesque mountain vistas. They chose CrossKeys Vineyards as the reception for both their ceremony and reception. Since Sarah loves blue, they chose a shade of azure to go with the floral arrangements of sunflowers (which are also a favorite of Sarah's). The ceremony was held on the vineyard's patio under a pergola decorated with ivory tulle and sunflowers. Sarah walked down the aisle to her parents' wedding song. The newlyweds left the ceremony in a horse drawn carriage. The indoor reception hall was decorated with a gold canopy and sunflower centerpieces. Table numbers included reasons why the number was important to Sarah and Matthew. There was a big block letter of the couple's monogram for guests to sign in lieu of a guest book. As favors, the guests received individually packaged s'more kits with beautiful Bible quotes on their tags. The four tier wedding cake had a blue fondant ribbon draped across it and included sunflowers as well. For her wedding day, Sarah wore a strapless A-line wedding dress with ruching and a crystal embellished belt. She accessorized with her mother's pearls. Matt wore a charcoal gray suit. The bridesmaids wore bright blue dresses. Matt and Sarah's vineyard wedding was a memorable event because of the stunning setting, the bright decor and the beautiful people.
